When should newborns have the first bath?
The WHO (World Health Organization) suggests waiting at least 24 hours after birth. But there are other opinions suggesting up to 48 hours or more.
More important is that there is no necessity to wash your newborn baby every day. You will find out that at this stage they stay clean for a long time as they don’t run, sweat, crawl on the floor, touch anything but sterilized toys, dummies, bottles, and of course, spend the most of the time on their moms and dads.
Wait until your baby’s umbilical cord is healed properly, and then think about taking your first bath. Until then, it is recommended to stick to sponge baths using organic 100% cotton or bamboo washcloths.
When to wash baby’s hair?
In relation to the best toiletries for newborn babies, your precious child does not need a shampoo for washing hair. It is recommended to introduce shampoos after your baby is two months old.

What should I wash my newborn with?
During the first two months of age baby’s skin is extremely delicate, so it can be easily dried out by using any regular soaps. You should consider the water quality in your area too. It may be very soothing like in Japan, so no additional lotions or washes are needed, or it may be filled with minerals such as Calcium and Magnesium like in the UK that may affect skin and hair in general, so using the best baby products for newborns will be only a plus.

Being a fan of natural ingredients and chamomile, in particular, this is my #1 organic best baby shampoo and wash of all times.

Eucerin Baby Wash and Shampoo
Another of my favorite brand is Eucerin, but this is because I widely use it on my skin, starting from creams and ending with lotions. I chose this brand years ago because this is the one that deals well with my super allergic skin. Eucerin is a fantastic brand if your baby has an ongoing skin problem, or has constantly dry skin or eczema.
This Eucerin baby wash and shampoo is soap-, tear-, and fragrance-free with a hypoallergenic effect. Needless to say, but your baby’s skin will stay smooth and well-hydrated at all times!
Aveeno Baby Wash and Shampoo
My third favorite and globally popular brand is Aveeno. It has fantastic baby skin care products and lots of variations with different natural ingredients. This brand also offers the best shampoo for toddlers.
Aveeno natural baby shampoo and wash contains oat extract which is very good for allergic skin and also nourishing. All Aveeno products come with tear-free, Paraben-free, and Phthalate-free option. Although it may be a bit expensive, it does the job very well, and absolutely worth trying.
Aveeno Baby Creamy Wash
If your baby has sensitive and dry skin, this is the product for you! It is very thick, so a little goes a long way, and it is an amazing value for money.
In the cities with hard water, this baby creamy wash is irreplaceable because it has a very soothing effect and doesn’t let the skin get dry.
Cetaphil Baby Wash and Shampoo
Cetaphil is a very well-known brand, but most importantly it is excellent for babies with eczema, sensitive, or allergic skin. (It is also great for your own hair, something that I use now for my hair a lot!).
Another unique feature is the organic calendula inside this body wash and shampoo. What can be better than calendula soothing, relaxing, and nourishing the skin? Calendula is also amazing for irritations and eczemas.
Puracy Baby Wash and Shampoo
“Natural, non-toxic, hypoallergenic, vegan, gluten-free, biodegradable; Certified Cruelty-Free!”
Shall we add anything else? Oh yes! Puracy is the best natural baby wash and shampoo with a tear-free effect. On top of that, it is soap- and sulfate-free.
It has an absolutely fantastic baby body lotion with lavender and grapefruit which I will introduce in the section “Baby skin care sets”. I usually buy a set of four that has a great value for money too.
The Honest Company Baby Wash and Shampoo
First of all, the brand name is great, and secondly, it speaks for itself too.
The Honest baby wash and shampoo is an absolutely natural skin care product with zero sulfates. It has an extremely well soothing effect and prevents my baby from the dry skin. However, it is a bit pricy for the amount you get.
This baby wash and shampoo comes fragrance-free, but the brand offers three different scents that are quite mild and not too strong, so it suits well for toddlers and even adults. Click on any of the images below to check out the price.
Shea Moisture Baby Head-to-Toe Wash Shampoo and Healing Lotion
Another fantastic set of baby head-to-toe wash shampoo and the best baby body lotion. It contains chamomile, argan oil, and raw shea, which soothes your baby’s skin instantly. (Guilty, but I occasionally use it for myself too!)
All the ingredients are certified organic. These bottles are quite big – 13 fl oz (370 g) each, so we used it all out in a couple of months.
The Best Natural Baby Lotions
There are tons of baby lotions on the market, but how do you know which one is the best for your baby? As for me, baby lotion always must-have natural ingredients, no chemicals, non-greasy, and hypoallergenic.
I can’t recommend more three baby lotions that will do an absolutely fantastic job on your baby’s skin (yours too!)
Eucerin Baby Body Lotion
As you already know, Eucerin is one of my favorites brands. It doesn’t only nourish or soothe your and baby’s skin, it actually heals it.
This is the best natural baby lotion that is also fragrance-free and hypoallergenic. Apart from natural shea butter, it contains Pro-Vitamin B5 which is exactly what nourishes and hydrates the skin. You can find B5 in many Eucerin products. On a side note, if your baby has very sensitive skin, irritations, or eczema, this lotion is for you.
Cetaphil Baby Daily Lotion
As in baby wash and shampoo, Cetaphil doesn’t change its preferences and uses organic calendula in a baby lotion too. Important that Cetaphil is considered to be the best lotion for baby eczema and best lotion for newborn babies.
Calendula itself is known for mainly healing the wounds, hydrating and nourishing dry skin. This is exactly what this lotion does.
Also, I love affordability compared to the amount offered, and how quickly this lotion absorbs, so my baby never gets cold after the bath and gets dressed quickly.

Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Body Lotion
Aveeno with organic oat extract really soothes the baby’s skin. It has a very good consistency and absorbs very well.
I also love that this is a non-greasy and non-comedogenic organic baby lotion with lovely light lavender and vanilla scent that relaxes and comforts the baby too.
However, we use it more as a daily routine rather than healing some skin irritations, it is considered to be the best lotion for baby dry skin and the best lotion for toddlers.
