Camping accessories for kids and games to play in the woods

Now the fun part begins!

Kids’ head torches, lanterns, and flashlights

Head torches are a must for anyone who goes camping, and there are absolutely adorable options for kids too. Alternatively, flashlights may be cheaper and easier to find on the market.

Lanterns and glow sticks are another way of making fun camping games.

Camper explorer sets and other important tools

Every child in their lifetime should have one of the camper explorer sets. And it does not necessarily mean that you should go camping but it is one of the most fun activities for camping indeed.

Some of the kits have a little plastic container for insects. So, make sure you will have a fantastic day out with your children and learn a lot about nature.

But please note that these camper explorer kits are quite basic, so the tools are rather basic. If you are an ardent amateur who loves exploring nature, you should get professional tools to work with.

Besides, the telescopic butterfly and fishing net can’t be forgotten. It has a perfect size for catching all sorts of bugs, including dragonflies, ladybirds, spiders, flies, and many more. There are five nets in a pack which is great in case of sharing or breaking one of them. Also, these nets are very colorful and sturdy. The handle is made out of stainless steel and covered with rubber for extra comfort. The handle is extendable too.

And of course, once you are out on an exploring journey, grab a field guide diary to make sure you capture every bit of our beautiful nature.

Finally, consider taking a kid’s camera on this journey. It would be so nice to print photos and paste them right next to their observation in the field guide diary. These cameras are sturdy enough and protected from falling. Personally tested.

Can you imagine how much fun it would be if you had walkie-talkies with you? I reckon never ever your kids would wish to leave the campsite.

Camping sets and accessories

Another cool set that you can find is camping set with a pop-up tent and numerous kids’ camping toys, including food items and cookware. This camping set will surely spark your child’s interest in exploring nature and being more involved in camping outdoor activities. This can be played at home, in your garden, or while camping. Also, grill sets are incredible!

Camping books

We are avid readers. There is no night without a bedtime story or reading during the day. What can be better than introducing books about camping?

Hammocks

And hammocks are relaxing. Honestly, one of the best things to do when camping is staying in a hammock for the whole day reading camping books, and using skewers to cook delicious sausages and marshmallows.

Water games for kids

We all know how to play Twister, but what if it sprinkled all over the place and your job was to cover all of the holes?

This is a super fun game that is suitable for your backyard or day out with friends!

Diving Pool Toy Set for Kids

For swim lovers, this diving pool toy set is the best. It is our favorite pack as it has a variety of toys that can be caught and found under the water. We usually use one set at a time when we go to the local pool or plan to have a pool whilst camping or traveling abroad.

It is not only a fun way of spending time in the pool, but it also does a great job teaching kids diving, swimming, and feeling confident in the water. Our 4-year-old loves the set a lot.

We find it a great kit to get creative. These also could be great camping toys for toddlers. This set includes lots of fabulous materials to work with and allows your child to develop their imagination and motoric skills.

The kit includes 10 white smooth river rocks, 6 color paints, 6 metallic paints, 2 glitter tubes of glue (gold and silver), 39 transfer stickers (gold and black), googly eyes, sticky gems, and 2 paintbrushes, 1 sponge, and instruction guide.

Paint Your Own Stepping Stone

This is another similar kit but rather easier. There are six paint pots with the basic color palette. You can choose your stepping stone’s animal or sign. You don’t need to prepare your own mold, just start coloring. This could make perfect little toddler camping toys.

Smart Activity Books

We also like reusable themed watercolor activity books very much. Now they are available in an exercise format. For example, the paw patrol series has mazes, and “find an item” fun games. There is also a felt craft activity set that includes 142 felt sticker shapes, 46 printed felt feature stickers, 4 color-in scenes, and an idea book to create 12 fuzzy felt friends. Melissa & Doug are incredibly talented people.

Outdoor games for kids

Other things to do when camping is to play outdoors. This is an awesome category that will give you a lot of ideas on how to engage your kids in a variety of sports, work on different skill sets, and build up energy and physical activity. These camping games for toddlers and kids are all about fun replacing screen time. Plus, they target teamwork, competitiveness, attention to little details, accuracy, speed, and much more.

Let’s take a look at possible things to do when camping and choose what suits best your family.

Kites for kids

First up, kites. This is one of the coolest kids’ camping toys, isn’t it? Of course, you can make your own which is even more fun. Alternatively, we recommend considering the below options. Learning how to launch and control these amazing kids’ kites will help your youngsters develop coordination and critical thinking skills in a very practical setting.

Kids’ flying toys and discs

There are numerous cool camping games as well as variations of flying toys, discs, and boomerangs for kids. Personally, our favorite is a flying ring because it is lighter and easier to control for younger children. Another flying toy that our child fell in love with is a Skyrocopter. It has two launchers and four discs. Four discs come in medium and large sizes. This is quite an easy game and great for two kids to share and play.

Throw-catch ball toys

The catch ball game is great for younger children and also when you are out at the beach. It is waterproof and made with a criss-cross stitch that makes the ball stick to a paddle.

Alternatively, there is a classic smash ball paddle set that is a great start to practicing speed and accuracy.

The horseshoe set is a fabulous invention. This model is easy to throw and aim because it is made out of rubber and easy to handle for kids. It is perfect for both outdoors and indoors.

Archery sets for kids

Archery sets provide an endless fun and learning experience for kids. This would practice their hand-eye coordination, fine motor skills, accuracy skills, and collaboration skills. Both models below have a LED flashlight design which makes this game fun to play at night.

Cornhole game set

Cornhole is a fun game that you can play indoors, outdoors, and while camping. It is quite portable and compact. You will have around six bean bags to throw in the board hole of your opponent. There is also a cornhole board with LED lights installed, so you can play at night.

Spikeball game set

This is a perfect outdoor game to practice teamwork, speed, and accuracy. It also requires a good load of physical activity. The team of two starts on the opposite side of the net. Once the ball is served, you have up to three touches to return the ball to the net. The cool part is that once the ball is served once, there are no sides or boundaries and you can move freely around the net.

Croquet Set

A croquet set can be another great idea to play with your family during picnics, parties, camping, and more. The set includes six hardwood handles, six hardwood mallets with caps for added protection, two ending stakes, nine steel wickets with vinyl coating, and six weather-resistant molded balls. It is all stored in one portable bag. Recommended age is six and up.

Bocce Ball

Last up is Bocce ball which is also a perfect game for a picnic, family gathering, camping, or a party. It includes eight balls total in a variety of colors. They all fit nicely in a small bag and are perfectly portable.

The object is to throw your bocce balls closer to the Pallino. Pallino is the first ball that is put into play. The first team to reach twelve points wins the game. A match typically consists of three rounds. Games are typically played between two teams, with four balls each to a team. Games can be played on any soft surface, such as grass, turf, sand, clay, etc.
